1 2023-09-14 2 3 Another Install, Another Day 4 5 Currently I'm playing around with configs and still thinking 6 about switching back to Void. Last week or so I reinstalled 7 Alpine and decided to keep WRPR.US as simple as possible; so 8 I've made a simple check list. -- 1. Do I use a program? 2. 9 If I don't use one, could I? 3. What are my goals with 10 WRPR.US? (1. Have a small pubnix for myself and friends 2. 11 Have fun 3. keep it simple, if you want complexity, the 12 wider web has enough of it 4. Actually use it) And now for 13 some must haves -- 1. My shell BBS 2. Gopher/Gemini (Maybe 14 one, maybe both) 3. Messaging (Was IRC, now it's XMPP, in 15 future who knows) And for my one extra, A community game 16 server, currently running a Minecraft server, but it's not 17 Free Software so might switch to something like Veloren. I 18 just like the simple lighthearted nature of older Minecraft. 19 Really symbolizes what the web should look like (Credit to 20 Maciej Ceglowski, In one of his talks he compared A 21 Minecraft like web future to a CoD like web future.) 22 23 Other Site Stuff 24 25 1. Currently need to update the gopher intro paragraph and 26 Tor/I2P links. (Might hold off because of a Distro hop.) 27 28 2. I like Void and Alpine, Just Void feels like a smoother 29 long term experience. I've already had to wipe Alpine due to 30 some weird update stuff I couldn't figure out; plus I've had 31 a few years of daily driver experience with Void. 32 33 3. Mirrors, not sure if I've mentioned this before but 34 thinking about hosting some sort of repo or mirror + git 35 server for software I use. 36 37
